Military Family Resource Centre Halifax

A practical guide to the supports that make frequent moves easier for spouses, partners, and kids.

The Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) Halifax is one of the most valuable resources available to posting families arriving in HRM. The MFRC provides programs, referrals, and community connections for CAF members and their families throughout the transition process — and long after the move is done.

What the MFRC Halifax Offers

The MFRC Halifax provides a range of services including:

Spousal and partner employment support, including job search guidance, resume help, and connections to local employers who understand military spouse employment gaps.

Childcare and parenting programs, including pre-and post-natal support, parenting workshops, and referrals to licensed childcare in HRM.

Youth programs for children and teens, providing community connection and transition support during what can be a difficult adjustment period.

Mental health and counselling services, including individual and family counselling from qualified professionals. These services are available to CAF members, spouses, partners, and dependants.

School transition support, including connections to HRCE and advocacy for families navigating IEPs and special needs services.

Community events and social programming that help families build local connections quickly.

How to Register and Get in Touch

The MFRC Halifax serves members posted to CFB Halifax, 12 Wing Shearwater, and related units. Contact them as soon as your posting message arrives — many programs have limited space or waitlists.

The MFRC and a knowledgeable local Realtor are your two most important contacts when you receive a Halifax posting. I am always happy to put you in touch with the right people.

Relocation is not only housing. It's employment disruption, childcare disruption, school change, and rebuilding your community — again.

This page points you to official Halifax MFRC resources so you can connect quickly after arrival. I'm Johnny Dulong, Family Real Estate Advisor with EXIT Realty Metro, and I include the MFRC early in relocation planning because it can reduce stress across the whole family.
